How to Use the TV Guide (EPG) and Catch-Up on Kemo IPTV

Kemo IPTV Support TeamPublished 8 min read

The TV guide is what turns a long list of channels into something that feels like proper television. Once it's working, you can see what's on now and next, plan your evening and — on supported channels — go back and watch things you missed. Here's how to get the most out of it with Kemo IPTV.

Short answer: Kemo IPTV includes an electronic programme guide (EPG) that most player apps load automatically when you sign in with your Xtream login. Open the guide view in your app to see what's on; if times are wrong, check your device's time zone and the app's EPG time-offset setting. Catch-up is available on supported channels — look for a clock or rewind icon next to the channel.

What is an EPG?

EPG stands for electronic programme guide — the on-screen schedule you'd find on any satellite or cable box. With Kemo IPTV it shows:

  • the programme on each channel now and next,
  • a grid of what's on over the coming hours and days,
  • programme titles and descriptions, and
  • on supported channels, catch-up for shows that have already aired.

The guide data is supplied alongside your channels, so you don't need to find it separately in most apps.

Loading the guide in popular apps

TiviMate (Firestick, Android TV, Google TV)

When you add your Kemo IPTV playlist using Xtream Codes, TiviMate fetches the guide automatically. The first download can take a minute or two.

  • If it shows "No information", go to Settings → EPG, select the Kemo IPTV source and choose Update EPG.
  • You can set how often the guide refreshes in the same menu — once a day is plenty.

IPTV Smarters Pro

The guide loads after you log in. If programme info is missing:

  • From the home screen, choose Install EPG (or Refresh EPG in Settings) and wait for it to finish.
  • In Live TV, press the menu or info button on a channel to see the schedule.

Apple apps (IPTVX, iPlayTV)

These usually load the guide automatically with an Xtream login. If not, look for EPG URL in the playlist settings and use the one that comes with your account.

MAG and Formuler boxes

The guide is built into the portal. If times are wrong, set the box's time zone — on MAG, System settings → Servers → General, then choose an NTP server such as pool.ntp.org and your time zone.

MyIPTV Player (Xbox, Windows)

Add the EPG (XMLTV) address from your welcome email under Settings → Add new playlist and EPG source, then press Refresh.

Fixing wrong times in the guide

This is the most common EPG question we get. If the guide is an hour (or several hours) out:

  1. Check your device's time zone first. On a Firestick: Settings → Preferences → Time Zone. On Android TV: Settings → System → Date & Time. For the UK, choose Europe/London; for Ireland, Europe/Dublin.
  2. Check the app's EPG offset. In TiviMate it's Settings → EPG → EPG time shift; set it to 0 unless you deliberately want to shift it. IPTV Smarters has a time-zone option in its settings.
  3. Clocks changed recently? When the UK switches between GMT and BST, a device with "automatic time" turned off can end up an hour out. Turn automatic time on.
  4. Watching US or Canadian channels? Their guide data may follow their own time zones; West Coast feeds run three hours later than East Coast ones.

Navigating the guide like a pro

  • Jump by day: most apps let you press left/right in the grid to move through time and use a day selector to look ahead.
  • Filter by group: open the UK Sport group first and the guide only shows sport — far easier on match day.
  • Search: in TiviMate and Smarters, search by programme name to find when something is on.
  • Favourites: add your everyday channels to Favourites and open the guide on that list for a short, personal TV schedule.
  • Reminders: TiviMate lets you set a reminder on a future programme so the app prompts you when it starts.

What is catch-up and how do I use it?

Catch-up lets you watch a programme that has already aired on a supported channel, a bit like a rewind button for live TV. It's useful when kick-off was earlier than you thought, or when you want to watch last night's episode.

How to find it:

  • In the guide, channels with catch-up show a clock or rewind icon.
  • Scroll back (left) in the guide to an earlier programme on that channel and select it.
  • Choose Play or Watch from start.

Catch-up availability and how far back it goes depend on the channel. Not every channel supports it, so look for the icon.

App notes for catch-up

  • TiviMate: catch-up is one of the features unlocked by TiviMate Premium, bought from the app developer.
  • IPTV Smarters: look for the Catch Up tile on the home screen or the catch-up icon in the Live TV guide.
  • MAG / Formuler: catch-up channels appear with an arrow or clock icon in the portal's guide.

Why some channels have no guide information

It's normal for a minority of channels — often small international or event-only channels — to show "No information". Event channels that appear for one boxing night, for example, might have only a title. If a big, everyday channel is missing guide data, refresh the EPG; if that doesn't fix it, let us know which channel and we'll check.

Making the guide load faster

On devices with less memory, a full guide for 34,000+ channels is a lot of data. To speed things up:

  • Hide channel groups you never watch (in TiviMate: Settings → Playlists → Manage groups).
  • Reduce the number of days of guide data stored, if your app offers the option.
  • Clear the app's cache occasionally.
  • Restart the device once a week.
