Firestick Setup for Beginners: Kemo IPTV in 10 Minutes

Kemo IPTV Support TeamPublished 8 min read

If the phrase "side-load an APK" makes you want to put the kettle on and give up, you're in the right place. This guide assumes you've never done anything more technical on a Firestick than open Netflix. Follow it in order and you'll be watching Kemo IPTV in about ten minutes.

Short answer: to set up Kemo IPTV on an Amazon Firestick, unlock Developer Options in Settings, install the free Downloader app, allow Downloader to install apps, use it to install an IPTV player such as IPTV Smarters Pro, then enter the username, password and server address from your Kemo IPTV email. That's it.

What you'll need

  • An Amazon Fire TV Stick (any current model — the 4K and 4K Max are best), already set up with your Amazon account.
  • Your Kemo IPTV login — from a paid package or the free trial. It arrives by email or WhatsApp.
  • Ten minutes and a cup of tea.

Keep the email open on your phone. You'll copy details from it later.

Step 1: Become a "developer" (it's just a setting)

Amazon hides the option to install apps from outside its store. Unlocking it is harmless and takes seconds.

  1. On the Firestick home screen, go to the Settings cog on the far right.
  2. Choose My Fire TV, then About.
  3. Highlight the first line — your device name, such as Fire TV Stick 4K — and press the round select button on your remote seven times.
  4. A message pops up saying "You are now a developer".

Press Back once. You'll now see Developer Options in the My Fire TV menu.

Tip: If you see "No need, you are already a developer", that's fine — someone's done this step before.

Step 2: Install Downloader

Downloader is a free, well-known app from the Amazon Appstore. Its only job here is to fetch the player app.

  1. Press the Home button.
  2. Go to Find (the magnifying glass) and choose Search.
  3. Type Downloader and choose the result with the orange icon, made by AFTVnews.
  4. Select Get or Download and wait for it to install.

Step 3: Let Downloader install apps

  1. Go back to Settings → My Fire TV → Developer Options.
  2. Choose Install unknown apps.
  3. Find Downloader in the list and switch it ON.

This permission applies only to Downloader — it doesn't open your Firestick to anything else.

Step 4: Install the IPTV player

  1. Open Downloader. If it asks for access to photos, media or files, choose Allow — it needs this to save the installer.
  2. Dismiss the welcome notes until you reach the box that says Enter a URL or Search Term.
  3. Type the download address or short code for IPTV Smarters Pro that we send with your login, and press Go.
  4. When the download finishes, choose Install, then Done.
  5. Downloader will offer to delete the installer file. Choose Delete twice — it frees up space and you don't need it anymore.

Why do we send the code? Download addresses for player apps change from time to time, so we send the current, correct one with your login rather than printing one here that might go out of date.

Prefer the TV-guide-grid look? You can install TiviMate the same way; the best apps guide explains the difference.

Step 5: Add your Kemo IPTV login

  1. Open IPTV Smarters Pro (it's in Home → Apps if it isn't on the main screen).
  2. Accept the terms.
  3. Choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
  4. Fill in the four boxes:
    • Any name: something like Kemo.
    • Username: exactly as in your email.
    • Password: exactly as in your email.
    • URL: the server address, starting with http.
  5. Select Add User.

Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive, and an extra space at the end will stop them working. Take your time with the on-screen keyboard. If you have the Fire TV app on your phone, you can use its keyboard instead — much quicker.

Step 6: Start watching

The app downloads the channel list, films, series and the TV guide. The first time takes about a minute; after that it's quick.

  • Choose Live TV, then a group such as UK Entertainment or UK Sport, then a channel.
  • Choose Movies or Series to browse the 220,000+-title library.
  • Long-press a channel to add it to Favourites.

Step 7: Put it on your home screen

So you don't have to dig for it each time:

  1. Hold the Home button and choose Apps.
  2. Highlight IPTV Smarters, press the menu button (three lines) and choose Move to front.

Common beginner hiccups

"I can't find Developer Options." You haven't unlocked it yet — repeat the seven presses in Step 1, then press Back.

"Downloader says the URL is invalid." Check the code carefully; letters like l and 1 are easy to mix up. Or message us and we'll confirm it.

"App not installed." Your Firestick is probably low on storage. Go to Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications and uninstall anything you don't use, then try again.

"Authorisation failed." One of the login details is wrong. Delete the user, then add it again, checking capital letters and spaces.

"The picture freezes but the sound keeps going." In the app's Settings → Player Selection, switch Live TV to the other player.

"It buffers during football." Read our match-day tips — the biggest fix is an Ethernet adapter.

Making your Firestick faster

  • Restart weekly: hold Select and Play/Pause together for five seconds.
  • Turn off data monitoring: Settings → Preferences → Data Monitoring → Off.
  • Clear app cache: Settings → Applications → Manage Installed Applications → IPTV Smarters → Clear cache.
  • Upgrade if needed: if you're on an old or Lite model and want 4K, the Fire TV Stick 4K Max is a big step up.

Is it safe?

Turning on Developer Options and installing a well-known player is safe, provided you only install apps from trusted sources — the code we send, the developer's official site or the Amazon Appstore. Don't install "modded" apps from random links you find online.
